WEST EUROTECH 52T2 CURARE SPECIAL
The West Curare 52 engine has been specifically designed for the ARTF Curare 60 pattern plane designed by Hano Prettner. With the re-launch of the ARTF version, Weston uk was asked to design an engine suitable for the aiframe which would take the airframe to a new level of performance. The Curare engine shares the same crankcase as the West Eurotech 52 engine but has been designed to turn a 11x9 APC or 12x7 APC which was required by the airframe. The Curare engine being the lightest engine in its weight. With the bespoke Genesis full lenght retro-style pipe system specifically tuned for the recommended props and airframe the Curare engine and pipe system is the ultimate package for the Curare airframe.

"Thank you for the loan of your West 25 motor for field trials. It is a superb motor with excellent throttling characteristics, ultimate power and very quiet. It has been flown in R/C combat and
 the model was so fast that everyone else was slow by comparison. I have tested it on
APC 9x5, 9.5x4.5, and RAM 9x6. For our purposes, the 9.5x4.5 gave the best performance within
the noise limits. 15.4k with a noise of 78-81db means it is some hot motor! Most people fly
combat using the rvine 25, but this motor was so much better turning an APC 9.5x4.5 that I
 have been banned! Unless I use an Irvine, I will mot be allowed to fly. They have no soul.
Such a pity they dont like coming second! Stop press: now that price and noise is now
combat legal. Can we have a discount if we order in bulk?

The 36 T1 could be described as a wolf in wolfs clothing; it just looks the part, in fact so much so that I have heard the West range described as "just Webra with purply bits on"- which is rather missing the point. In fact most of the internals are Weston UK engineered upgrades. The West 36 T1 is a most capable bit of kit, hauling my sonic Q500 racer up vertically in a gale, straight out of my hand and unwinding on the pipe to a crescendo on the wind assisted downhill passes. The little 36 was over 2000 RPM up on Irvines already quick 39, on a 9.5x7 Bolly and it has been engineered to enhance the performance of your typical 3D fun fly machine, where it will haul the recommended 11x4 APC at a blistering 14.5k or thereabouts.

Today we have dedicated engines for racing, helicopters, ducted fans, aerobatics and scale models and latterly, expressly modified machinery for the fun fly and 3D disciplines, of which the 52 T1 is a perfect example. Weston UK have come up with the same solution as the heli boys with their T1 which features huge machined heat sinks for both head and backplate to carry away heat whilst in the hover. Just looking at the formidable V1 and its T1 counterparts cylinder porting tells you that these two are markedly different. For a reliable idle Weston advise an idle speed of 2000RPM but the T1 will keep running at half this speed with immediate throttle response. The West Eurotech 52 T1 - a very nice engine that will give any lightweight 3D aerobatic foil an edge.

The 52v1 weighs little more than a couple of bags of toffees and produces something like 3 +bhp. At no time did the 52v1 threaten to misbehave and i was mightily impressed by its general manners. Weston UK produce both engines and fuel which breeds confidence in their products and the 52v1 finished the test looking brand new with no staining anywhere.
